The next-generation Ranger Raptor is not only made to rule the deserts and mountains, but it also has a new active valve twin exhaust system, four drive modes, and a Quiet mode for early morning starts on the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 model.
The noise from the next-generation Ranger Raptor's powerful 292kW 3.0L twin-turbo V6 will be controlled by an active exhaust system that opens valves like a saxophone or a large pipe organ to change the sound of the car based on how the driver feels.
"For the next Ranger Raptor, Ford wanted to really bring out the car's personality. We wanted to highlight the power and presence of the car without making it too hard to drive when it didn't have to be Ford design team Ford design engineers spent hundreds of hours tuning and developing the sound of the vehicle, Ford have something that sounds right for this performance bakkie.
The driver can choose how the system works by pressing the "Exhaust Mode" button, or it can work automatically based on the drive mode they choose: Quiet, Normal, Sport, or Baja.
Keep it quiet
Customers love the powerful sound that performance cars like the next-generation Ranger Raptor make when they rev their engines. And while that thrilling sound is fine on the highway or out in the middle of nowhere, it is not so great in your neighbourhood, especially early in the morning or late at night.
By choosing Quiet mode, owners can minimise the sound of the exhaust. Even better, the next-generation Ranger Raptor lets owners schedule "quiet start," which lets them set Ranger Raptor to always start in Quiet mode or set a quiet time (with start and end times) to keep their neighbours happy.

From computer modelling to making physical prototypes, the goal was to come up with a unique engine sound that will make people's hair stand up when they hear it. Before you see it, Ford wants you to know that it's a Ranger Raptor driving down the road."
